O tym, jak Zamoyski stał się Bourdellem. Witkacy „przetlumaczony” przez Dacię Maraini
Abstrakt
This paper discusses the translation of Matka [Mother] by Witkacy made in 1969 by the Italian writer Dacia Maraini. The author of this paper analyses the translation and adaptation techniques exploited by Maraini and explains the modifications introduced by the translator from three theoretical perspectives: the translatum is analysed as an intermediate translation (made from another translation), a strongly authored translation and a theatrical translation. The author of the paper also argues that the Maraini's Italian translation was not based on the English translation of the Polish original – as has been generally believed – but on its French rendition, published by Gallimard in 1969.
