Abstrakt

The paper describes the words qualified as archaic in Linde’s Dictionary in the light of facts of linguistic geography. The main scope of investigations falls on such archaisms that are genetically dialectal. Linde’s Dictionary contains about 600 forms of this kind. Most of these are archaisms taken from the dialects of Little Poland (Małopolska). Also noticeable is an almost complete lack of forms from the dialects of Great Poland (Wielkopolska). Since the historical linguistic studies have already confirmed the credibility of Linde’s Dictionary, further studies on the lexical stock collected in it may hugely contribute to the descriptive and explanatory analysis of how the particular dialects have shaped the lexis of the modern Polish literary language.
