Abstrakt

The name of a literary figure creates this figure, therefore it is often one of the first pieces of information given on the introduction of a hero into the pages of an epic work. When the author resigns to introduce his hero with his own name he must use some substitute names. In the case when they are repeated they may qualify as a category of proper nouns.

The issue of a boundary or a transitory category between a vulgar word and proper noun, as discussed in onomastics, has been transferred here to literary onomastics. In the end the paper turns our attention to the transfer of vulgar words to the category of proper nouns, which is more often in dramatic works, due to their graphic structure.
