Modernistyczny bunt w biblijnym dramacie Hjalmara Bergmana
Abstrakt
„Mary the Mother of Jesus” (1905) is a literary debut of the Swedish writer.
The authoress seeks to place the play in question within the historical and literary process. An analysis of the main characters of Mary and Judas, and the author's attitude towards the Bible, reveal the author's radicalism. It is contrary to Judeo-Christian morality, Christian dogmas, Catholic mariology and the authority of the Bible. He values and loves Jesus as a man. Brought up in the Protestant tradition, Bergman adopts the attitude of a modernistic revolt in the drama under study.
