Abstrakt
The paper presents the founding of one Warsaw newspapers i.e. „National Gazette” in 1794. The paper considers the problem of the Gazette’s dependence on the pro-Russian authorities. Some changes at the editorial office as well as in the contents of the newspaper has been dealt with. Those changes coincide with the political changes in the country. After the outbreak of Kościuszko’s Insurrection the title was changed into „Warsaw Free Gazette”. The editorial office also changed their approach to what was going on in the country. The next change concerned the period after the collapse of the insurrection. The gazette, as „Warsaw Gazette”, had to adjust itself once again to new circumstances. The present paper shows some mechanisms or procedures applied in order to accomplish propaganda aims. The paper characterizes also people working in the gazette in question and first of all its owners − Tadeusz Włodek and Antoni Lesznowski as well as Chreptowicz, Włodek’s colaborator.
