Uses and “Non-Uses” of the Word Constitution in the Political History of France

Abstract

This article aims to study the uses and “non-uses” of the word constitution in the institutional history of France in the 19^th century: at the time of the Restoration of the Bourbon dynasty in 1814, after the fall of Napoleon and at the time of birth of the 3^rd Republic.
