About Paradoxes and Not Only. A Contribution to the Characteristics of the Style of Jan Twardowski Religious Lyrics

Abstract

The author of the study analysis the genesis and stylistic functions of the figure called paradox, which is recognized as one of the most important features of Jan Twardowski lyrics. The author indicates that beside proper paradoxes the lyrics contains many antitheses. This kind of poetic practice is derived from the Bible. The most important occurrence domains of analyzed paradoxes are: faith, love, death, and interpersonal relations.
