Zoonimy of Wydrza Village in Tarnobrzeg Administrative District

Abstract

The article is devoted in the folk names of domestic animals such as: horses, coves and bull-calve, goats, rabbits, dogs and cats.

The material consisting of 638 names was collected in Wydrza village in Tarnobrzeg administrative district. The author discusses the motivation of names and their formative built. She also draws attention to the changes which have been in progress in folk zoomymy (the rejection of traditional names to the benefit of the new ones, especially these derived from personal names and often overtaken from the mass media).
