Abstract

This paper seeks to analyse the street Łunia from the historical and linguistic point of view. The author came up with several general conclusions: 1. The contemporary name of the street is derived from the personal name Łuń. 2. The patron of the lubycka street is Andrij Łuniw (Andrzej Łuniów). 3. The second component of the personal Ukrainian was inadequately transposed onto the Polish language.

The proper name of the street’s name in accord with the Polish language norm should read Łuniowa or else Łuniwa.
