On Several Properties of the Language and Style of Jacek Podsiadło’s Features
Abstract
The paper seeks to define some properties of the language and style of Jacek Podsiadło’s feature articles in “Tygodnik Powszechny.” The columnist manifests his interest in language and its infinite capacities in lexical innovations and his work on the transformations of set phrases. The author’s vocabulary is marked with emotions, colloquialism, and borrowings. Numerous intertextual references and various literary genres in one text create a unique and specific character of the features. What deserves our attention is his description of the child’s world.
