Declination of Muscular Nouns in Official Files from the Second Half of the Sixteenth Century

Abstract

The paper deals with the declination of muscular nouns from the Files or Legal Cases in the Town of Knyszyn in the second half of the sixteenth century against the background of the then state of literature.

The author characterizes the forms of cases, seeking to define to what extent they are in accordance with sixteenth-century literary norm.

It results from her research that the deviations she has found (few archaisms, suffixes coming into use) have rather an occasional character, and the basic forms of muscular declinations reflect the situation all over Poland.
