Herbert's Lyric Poetry − between Classicism and Poetics of Fact
Abstract
The author places Herbert's poetry between classicism and poetry of fact. Their mutual relations are defined as opposition of the centripetal structure of classicism and the centrifugal structure that is realised by poetics of fact. The article is another attempt at summing up the relations between Herbert's work and a broadly understood classicism. The author sees the relations in the spheres of meta-poetical and thematic reflection, on the plane of the relation to the transcendentalia, as well as in genology. However, this „centrifugal” movement is also the subject of reflection, which as a result allows pointing to the peculiarity of Herbert's individual style.
