Two Drops
Abstract
The presented analysis of the poem Two drops is a reflection on reality situated between triviality and pathos. The author studies the order of this reality, selecting the basic organising mechanisms on the levels of graphy, versification, intonation and syntax, finding symmetry on various levels of the text. A fragile structure of the poem is juxtaposed to the destructive element dominating in the presented world of Two drops. The observed clumsiness, use of colloquial language, evokes a space containing cracks and splits. The two drops from the title are two emotional dominants of the verse: bitterness and tenderness. In a subtle way the author shows how room is created in the poem for a difficult tenderness, born of bitterness.
