The Name of God in Ignacy Krasicki
Abstract
The point of reference in this classification is the Christian concept of God and the word „Bóg” which refers to it. I have considered the synonymous words and expressions, names drawn from Greek and Roman mythology and derivatives of the title word, even if used metaphorically, with no connection to the sphere of the sacred („nabożniś”, „boginie”). Migration of words from the sphere of the sacred to that of the profane and vice versa is nothing unusual: the word „bóg” itself has a non-sacred etymology and the word „sacrum”, too, originally had a very down to earth meaning.
