The Creation of Characters in Norwid's Aktor
Abstract
The characters appearing in the haute comédie Aktor can be divided according to their awareness of the theatrical nature of life and the world. The question is to what extent a man is subjected to what can be termed management from outside in the THEATRUM MUNDI and to what extent he is himself director of his own life. Someone subject to outside direction is a puppet. Someone who directs his own life is a master actor. The cast of characters in Aktor includes both types.
