Yet One More Illusion

  • Wiesław Paweł Szymański

Abstract

The essay seeks to reconstruct, on the basis of historical materials, the feelings and thoughts Prince Adam Czartoryski had during his journey to Berlin. He is going there in the beginning of the Spring of Peoples, for judging by its initial stage he thought that a war could break out between Prussia, France and England. This would have given an opportunity to revive the statehood of Poland. Unfortunately, it turned out that France's policy towards Prince Adam was hypocritical. "Western" Europe did not think at all about triggering off a conflict with the Russian empire.
