The idea of printing Annals of Theology (Roczniki teologiczne) began in 1950's when the Learned Society of Catholic University of Lublin started publishing various scientific journals which represented specific faculties of the University. Between 1949 and 1990, they were titled Annals of Theology and Canon Law. They changed the name for Annals of Theology (1991-2008) after the Faculty of Canon and Civil Law started a new journal: Annals of Juridical Sciences. Last volume of Annals of Theology consisted of 10 fascicles of various subjects. In 2009 those fascicles became independent annals with new ISSN and volume numeration, and also with extra volume number, referring to the previous, main title. From that year on, until 2013, following annals were issued: Annals of Dogmatic Theology, Annals of Moral Theology, Annals of Church History, Annals of Theology of Spirituality, Pastoral and Catechetical Annals, Annals of Ecumenical Theology, Liturgical and Homiletic Annals, Annals of Fundamental Theology and Religiology, Annals of Family Studies.

In 2014 restoration of previous concept, as a single and consistent journal with the former title - Annals of Theology, was carried out. The new annals were received a new ISSN and previous volume numeration granting the continuity of numeration. At the moment, the new Annals of Theology appear every month and each of them are dedicated to a specific discipline of theology.
