Abstract

Statement, that love is an important teaching category, does not surprise anyone. Love however, does not have one name. In above article we show infrequently displayed form of love, social love. In catholic social science, being an interdisciplinary science on theological profile, this love is understood as a basic moral principle of social life. Social love together with a second principle – justice, gives sense to human existence, crating basis for coexistence of societies and nations.

In the above article, in light of catholic social teachings proclaimed by John Paul II and Benedict XVI, shows sense and multi-aspect of this principle. This is why we take on subjects such as: love vs. social love, social love vs. social justice, and dimensions of social love (mercy, forgiveness, fundamental (preferential) option for the poor). All of our deliberations conclude on reflection on the role of social love principle in social education.
