It places the child in the center of educational impact, emphasizing its dignity and subjectivity. Parents and educators enjoy special authority, with regards to whom children are required to show respect (honor) and obedience, subjection and discipline. Similarly, parents are expected to have servant love and responsibility, competence, attentive care and tenderness. The first and basic educational environment is the family home, while other educational centers and institutions – based on the principle of subsidiarity – can support them in fulfilling this fundamental right and obligation. The Bible is not a textbook of education, because it is primarily an inspired book, a book of faith. Still, it does have an educational value, not only because of its literary and historical value, but above all because it is the book of the Holy Spirit who “will teach [us] all things” (John 14:26). He also leads to the maturity of those who wish to live the new life of God’s children in Christ, whom they accept with faith. A careful reading of the Holy Bible is therefore a valuable source of teaching and a spiritual inspiration for theology of education (DV 24).
2021-12-30T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2021 Roczniki Pedagogiczne https://ojs.tnkul.pl/index.php/rped/article/view/16423 Pope Francis’ Outlook on Conjugal Love as an Inspiration for the Pedagogy of the Family 2022-01-11T13:24:01+00:00 Magdalena Parzyszek mparzyszek1@op.pl
The paper shows Pope Francis’ understanding of conjugal love, the causes of its crisis and inspirations for the pedagogy of the family. This topic has not been dealt with in Polish pedagogy, therefore, the author aims to draw attention to the innovative, pedagogical potential of Pope Francis’ teaching. The following questions are addressed here: What is Pope Francis’ outlook on conjugal love and what features does he indicate in particular? What kinds of crisis of conjugal love does he emphasize? What does it imply for the Polish pedagogy of the family?
2021-12-30T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2021 Roczniki Pedagogiczne https://ojs.tnkul.pl/index.php/rped/article/view/15621 Axiological Foundations of Social Pedagogy: Search Areas 2022-01-11T13:24:25+00:00 Mariusz Cichosz acichosz@o2.pl
The issue of values is of key importance in social sciences and thus in pedagogy. The process of education is strongly embedded and makes references to such aspects as models, templates and standards. In turn, they are interpreted axiologically and always receive the axiological interpretation. Every pedagogical sub-discipline tackles this issue in a specific and aspect-related mode. For social pedagogy, apart from the traditional cognitive and interpretative areas, such as the adopted concepts of man and social life, the area and the subject matter of principles on the basis of which the social world should be/ could be transformed is also of great importance. One of such principles is the principle of the common good. One may ask: to which traditions does social pedagogy refer in this respect, how does it interpret this principle and what are the present-day challenges related to it?
2021-12-30T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2021 Roczniki Pedagogiczne https://ojs.tnkul.pl/index.php/rped/article/view/16509 Chastity as a Value in the Opinion of Young People with Different Senses of Gender Identity in the Light of Pilot Research 2022-01-11T13:23:57+00:00 Danuta Opozda danan@kul.pl
The aim of the article is to present the views of young people on premarital chastity as a value. The aim of the article was a scientific reflection on the construct of resilience in the context of social change and new needs in (family) upbringing as well as the importance of resilience for person and his family system. The concept of resilience and resilient family is presented, pointing to the etymology of the name, mechanisms of this phenomenon and its relations with the family environment, where the process of developing and strengthening resilience takes place. Arguments were presented that resilience could be an important construct for children and their parents to be more resistant to threats and better prepared to overcome difficulties. And also that they should be prepared for optimal functioning in the world of permanent change and building satisfying interpersonal relationships. The process of supporting resilience can be treated as an area of development of the person and the family. The text ends with pedagogical implications that provide guidelines for building and strengthening family resilience.
2021-12-30T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2021 Roczniki Pedagogiczne https://ojs.tnkul.pl/index.php/rped/article/view/16083 Developmental Specyfity of the Adolescence Period. It can be considered from individual, diadic and family perspectives. In this text it will be considered mainly in the family context and in relation to the youngest members of this unique community. For children, divorce means the loss of a complete family and involves a number of immediate and deferred effects of the parents’ divorce that have a traumatic impact on their lives. A particular dimension of divorce situations is “bargaining for the child” in all phases of the divorce process. Being an object of manipulation, indoctrination and a tool in the parents’ conflict, children experience great harm – painful feelings, a failure to satisfy needs important for their development. Therefore, it is invaluable to support families and their children in divorce situations. Selected examples of forms of psychological and pedagogical assistance in the indicated aspect close the considerations on one of the most difficult problems of social life and one of the greatest threats to the modern family.
2021-12-30T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2021 Roczniki Pedagogiczne https://ojs.tnkul.pl/index.php/rped/article/view/16450 The Family Against Helping Dependent Persons – Support in the Local Environment on the Example of Communal Strategies for Solving Social Problems 2022-01-11T13:23:59+00:00 Agnieszka Regulska a.regulska@uksw.edu.pl
The article concerns the problem of helping dependent people. An attempt has been made to present the state of knowledge about family care, adoption and systemic actions during that time. Alarming and positive phenomena during the coronavirus pandemic are pointed out, as well as directions for further analyses. So far unpublished results of original research carried out among students – future carers – are presented. Some of them are compared with the results from 2009. It is assumed to establish the ongoing trends of changes in foster care. Particular attention is paid to the best possible preparation of professionals and society to understand and implement foster and adoption, support for the operation of foster care and, above all, to students’ willingness to become foster or adoptive parents.
2021-12-30T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2021 Roczniki Pedagogiczne https://ojs.tnkul.pl/index.php/rped/article/view/16070 Family and Parenthood in the Culture of Real Socialism – Between Ideology and Everyday Life 2022-01-11T13:24:10+00:00 Renata Doniec renata.doniec@uj.edu.pl
The aim of the article is to show the sense and meaning given to the family and parenthood in the culture of real socialism in Poland in the 1970s. The research assumed that during the period of real socialism, the family were functioning in two separate dimensions, i.e. in the official and unofficial culture. Official culture was created top down by the apparatus of power, Marxist ideology, deliberate indoctrination, and it created the reality of appearances. Unofficial culture was created from below, spontaneously, on the basis of Christian culture and Polish tradition. Each of these cultures had a different vision of the family and a different attitude towards family values. The main question of the article is: what sense and meaning were given to the family and parenthood in it within the official culture and in the unofficial one under the conditions of real socialism of the 1970s? The answer to this question were sought based on the analysis of various types of sources, including women’s magazines, personal documents and scientific materials. The research adopted the pedagogical and historical perspective, the method of media content research and the method of content analysis. The theoretical basis for the analyzes was the environmental and ecological theory of S.E. Hobfoll and concept of a difficult situation by T. Tomaszewski.
2021-12-30T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2021 Roczniki Pedagogiczne https://ojs.tnkul.pl/index.php/rped/article/view/15852 The Work of Parents in the Countryside in their Childhood Memories of Generation Y 2022-01-11T13:24:16+00:00 Zdzisław Wołk z.wolk@ips.uz.zgora.pl
Work is one of the main forms of human activity. The work of Millennials in their childhood memories is present and strongly accentuated. Such memories can make it possible to recreate the circumstances in which the work culture was shaped in the rural environment. Based on biographical reflections, it is possible to reconstruct the subjective experiences of work in the conditions and circumstances of childhood. In the case of the Millennials’ generation, such period was in the nineties, i.e. the initial period of systemic transformation. In the rural environment, it was specific. The life and professional paths as well as the personal profiles of rural children of those times are related to the experiences they acquired at that period of their lives. Appealing to autobiographical reflections from childhood broadens the knowledge of “those times” and shows individual workrelated experiences. It also enables our better knowledge and understanding of later Millennials’ social, (especially professional) functioning, in their adulthood. In the memories of work from the childhood of Millennials coming from rural environments we can clearly notice the widespread overworking of their parents, their work fatigue, and the parents’ frequent additional work on their own farms which were run for their own needs. The parents did not have any free time or time for their children, because their professional and farm work was the content of all the following days, even holidays. The memories of the work of individual parents (mothers and fathers) are clearly different – fathers were usually focused on their professional work, mothers – apart from their professional work, carried the burden of running their homes. Children were also involved in the work. They were usually responsible for taking care of their siblings, cleaning and self-service work, as well as the assistance with seasonal field work. There are no new electronic media or electronic technologies in the childhood memories of the oldest Millennials, called “the digital generation”. Their parents’ work was usually manual. The children remember it as often very hard, exhausting, but also necessary work. It was a source of income and was treated that way by the parents who did it with high responsibility and commitment. They did not complain about its excess and the fatigue it caused.
2021-12-30T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2021 Roczniki Pedagogiczne https://ojs.tnkul.pl/index.php/rped/article/view/16259 Monika Sobkowiak, Jak wspierać rozwój przedszkolaka?
