Factors of New Quality of Internal/International Armed Conflicts

Abstract

It has been assumed that armed conflicts being a part of social life, are dynamic processes of change conditioned by multilevel-factors. Hence, the purpose of the paper is identification of the new quality of armed conflicts existing in most cases simultaneously on both internal and external spheres of social life. It has been verified hypothesis, that new quality of contemporary internal / international armed conflicts is synergy effect of factors operating on both internal and international levels. Particularly the analysis has been focused on factors operating on the international system level like changing polarity of the post-cold war system and globalization processes. They have indirect impact on armed conflict. Direct impact is both exerted and analyzed in the paper by economic, environmental and demographic factors. As a result of operating factors in the parte are analyzed following new quality features of armed conflict: a) internationalisation of internal conflicts, b) broad involvement of transnational actors, c) severe consequences for civil population, d) one-sided violence.
