Abstract

The paper addresses the issue of patriotic formation in family and basic socializing milieus, to which school and the Church belong. An analysis of the issue in question include the complex character of the Polish social context. This context conditioned the way the value of patriotism was comprehended in the earlier historical period and in post-war Poland. It also conditioned the specific situation and problems of family, school and the Church during the socio-political transformations, which in turn influences the course of patriotic formation in those milieus. The phenomenon of „dispersed socializing milieus” has been particularly emphasized, which practically means a crisis of cooperation between family, the Church and school in the contemporary Polish context. This phenomenon is also reflected in the manner adolescents perceive the role and significance of those milieus in the process of patriotic formation. Theoretical analyses have been supported by respective empirical research which proves that adolescents have such expectations from those milieus as their experienced in the process of socialization to the values of patriotism (especially their expectations towards family and school). They are also influenced by the present stereotypes as regards the Church and perceive her role in this sphere as marginal.
