J. Maritain’s Conception of Man’s Upbringing

Abstract

The paper contains some aspects of Maritainian conception of upbringing. In the first part the author presents that philosophical vision of man to which J. Maritain draws on. In the central part some general and particular tasks of upbringing have been discussed within the scope of physical, intellectual, moral, social and religious upbringing. In the final part some contemporary errors in upbringing have been listed. J. Maritain’s thought may play an important part in the creation of an integral vision of upbringing − the task crucial for upbringing and pedagogic thinking in Poland.
