Home environment and the religiousness of children

Abstract

On the basis of the materials collected from 17 questionnaires made among children from primary school (grades V-VII) the author makes the following statements: 1. The state of the religiousness of children as well as the character of that religiousness depends on the home environment; 2. The religiousness of children has the qualities characteristic of the religiousness of their parents; 3. The state of religiousness in relation to the social environment is as follows: parents and children from small ’ towns take the highest position, next parents and children living in the country, then parents working on state farms and children from big cities and finally parents in big cities and children from state farms; 4. The state of the religiousness of children depends on the state of the religiousness of their parents; the more religious the parents, the more religious the children and vice versa; 5. The state of the religiousness of children is conditioned by the social type of the family.
