„It was here that fear struck me with its wing”. A Traumatic-Esthetic Sketch for Józef Czechowicz’s Birthday
Abstract
The sketch describes the first years of Józef Czechowicz’s childhood. Today all the knowledge of that period can be obtained exclusively from the notes that were written many years later by the poet himself. Władysław Panas shows that the two earliest events that Czechowicz remembered had an extremely symbolic character: they were connected with the overwhelming feeling of anxiety on the one hand, and of aesthetic delight on the other.
