A Swing of the Pen

Abstract

The essay is an attempt at presenting the phenomenon of Zionist literature written in the Polish language. When describing it the author uses the metaphor of encounter that has the features of the rhetoric figure of the chiasm. Writing becomes a testimony to the existence of a troublesome cultural borderland, the Polish-Jewish borderland. In the author’s words, besides the national dimension the literature has a clear Messianic badge. Expectations contained in it are an expression of a spiritual (metaphysical) longing for the coming of Messiah who will salve the Jewish nation.
