Apology and Destruction. The Night of the Great Season...
Abstract
The text suggests reading Bruno Schulz’s story „The Night of the Great Season”. According to Władysław Panas a characteristic feature of Schulz’s narration is the coexistence of two separate tendencies within it: a discursive one and a creative one. The author sees the basic principle of poetics in anti-mimesis: the meaning of the stories the writer tells is not then closed in a definite plot, but it far exceeds its limits, and the whole gains a clearly symbolic character. „The Night of the Great Season” becomes something like „a poetical treatise”, a moralistic and existential parable at the same time.
