Fifty Years of the Chair of the History of Ancient and Early-Christian Art of the Catholic University of Lublin
Abstract
The paper depicts the history of the Chair of the History of Ancient and early-Christian Art of the Catholic University of Lublin from its inception in 1950 to the present times. The origins under difficult circumstances of the 1950s are connected with Professor Rajmund Gostkowski, and then in the 1960s the Chair was taken over by Professor Barbara Filarska. She gave the Chair its present form by establishing a basis of didactic aids and by educating a group of workers. They were all prepared to study early-Christian art. Today’s scientific profile of the Chair, that has been run by Bożena Iwaszkiewicz-Wronikowska since 1995, is continuing the intentions and achievements of Professor Barbara Filarska.
