Abstract

Zygmunt Szweykowski (1894-1978) belonged to the most eminent experts on the history of Polish novel. He was one of the scholars who founded the “school” of the studies on the novel, to which work he contributed immensely. Especially noteworthy are his studies on the writing of Bolesław Prus, the literature of positivism, and his model editions of texts. This is his greatest and most enduring.
