A Constructor of Imagination (opowiadanie) [A Story]

  • Agata Stankowska Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań

Abstract

The author rightly reveals the hidden self-thematic meaning of Czechowicz's Opowiadanie [A story]. She interprets the poem as a dramatised, narrative crypto-manifesto of the poet's aesthetic convictions: she traces the meanings of immanent features of its poetics and the philosophical implications of the artistic tropes, confronting her observations with critical-literary statements of the author of Wyobraźnia stwarzająca [Creative imagination]. As a result she convincingly reveals the three most important features of Czechowicz's creative personality: its visionary character, constructivism and symbolism.
