Theory and Method in Literary Research

Abstract

Contrary to all appearances, the methodology and method of literary research is a science still in the making. This is an age of attacks on all theorising, an age when borders are constantly being crossed between various literary disciplines as well as between the study of literature and the study of other areas of culture, and when the distinctions between literary research and literature itself are deliberately blurred. It is therefore difficult to be optimistic about the formation of such a science in the near future
