Making Religious Knowledge More Profound as the Christian's Duty according to Cesare from Arles
Abstract
Relying on the texts of the sermons of Cesare from Arles it has been proved that the Gallic pastor often reminded his faithful of the need to deepen their religious knowledge. The way to do it was to listen to God's word in the church and read the Bible, either individually or in group, and other religious books. The interesting thing is: St. Cesare supposed that even the ordinary people were able to read (in Latin language) and had some books. It was possible to borrow books from private libraries or to buy them; their price vas probably not wery high.
