Osobowościowe uwarunkowania powodzenia małżeństwa

Abstrakt

The aim of the research was to deal with the question of whether personal features and the degree of their similarity between married people influence success of their marriage. The research was carried out among 160 couples (80 satisfied and 80 dissatisfied couples). Satisfaction in marriage was measured on A Martial Success Scale designed by the author. Personality was measured by the 16 — factor- -personality questionnaire of R. B. Cattell.

The comparison of results shows that typological features (introversion, extroversion) do not influence martial success. Neurosis is negative, and characterological features such as responsibility and permanence of convictions are positive in successful marriage. The degree of similarity in personalities of the couples does not secure success. The features that influence the marriage depend on each person’s environment and self-education. Therefore, they may be shaped through family education and preparatory courses for marriage as well as through personal effort and self-realization.
