Norwid amongst symbols and allegories. Reflections around the book Symbol w dziele Norwida (Symbols in Norwid’s Works) (transl. by Tadeusz Karłowicz)

Abstract

The article is concerned with a monograph that discusses the presence of symbols and allegories in Cyprian Norwid's works. It is an important work raising a theme that is fundamental for modern studies of the poet. The studies gathered in the volume try to answer the question if Norwid is more of a continuator of Romantic literature, or rather he predicts literary trends characteristic of the beginning of the 20^th century.
