The paper presents the ideas of communitarianism about morality and family. It presents in the first part the liberal and communitarian concept of morality (social and historical conditioning of morality, sources of morality and values, the idea of person and liberty). The main topics in the second part are: the family as the place of moral education (transfer of values), the pattern of the family, the ethos of labor, the objects of moral education (selfcontrol, altruism, religiosity) and the pathologies of family life (divorces, moves, self-interest).
