Proceedings for the Transfer of a Parish Priest in the 1983 CIC
Abstract
According to can. 1748 of the CIC, the motive for the transfer of a parish priest may be either the good of souls or the necessity or advantage of the Church. This means that contrary to the motives that may induce the bishop of a diocese to remove a parish priest, focused on the harmfulness of his actions in the parish he immediately governed, in this case the attention of the legislator focuses on motives relating to a new parish or other office that the bishop may entrust to him. This article not only points out the reasons for the transfer of the pastor, but also outlines the basic steps of the procedure.
