Karl R. Popper's Refutation of Scientific Determinism

  • Mariusz J. Baczyński

Abstract

Popper argues that it is impossible to completely predict the growth of knowledge from within the world. He claims that we are not able to infer the deterministic character of the world from the prima facie deterministic character of atheory (such as Newton's theory). Thus nothing can support scientific determinism. This article presents Popper's solution and its critics (Mendel Sachs, Anthony O'Hear) opinion.
