Empirical Factor in Cosmological Theories

  • Józef Turek

Abstract

The article shows different ways of the functioning of the empirical factor in cosmological theories.

In the proceeds of achieving af the cosmological knowledge the empirical factor appears at least in three essential aspects: deciding the conception of practicing in cosmology, taking a part in inductive procedures of acquiring the knowledge and acting the inspirational functions.

In the testibility procedures whereas the empirical factor is used for verification as well as for falsification of the cosmological knowledge. Three tests, that is: redshift of the spectral lines emitted by the galaxies with Hubble's law, cosmic microwave radiation and curve of the element abundances are the most important in cosmology.

The other data, however, have less testibility power mainly because of the small precision of their measurements.

Generally, there are no fundamental differences between cosmology and the other empirical sciences, for example physics, in the ways of the functions of the empirical factor. These differences are visible, however, in the effects of its acrivity, mainly because of the quality of the cosmological tests.
