Abstract

The history of St. Nicholas Church in Mir dates back to the turn of the 16th and 17th centuries. The church was built thanks to the foundation of Duke Mikołaj Krzysztof Radziwiłł “Sierotka”. Its consecration took place in 1605. The presented inventory of the parish church, presbytery and manor of 1772 focuses on the history of the parish, its emoluments, population and the wealth of the parish in Mir, both church equipment and parish property. The inventory contains detailed parishioner duties towards the parish and a detailed description of church outbuildings. At the end of the 1772 inventory, there is an attached questionnaire with detailed questions about the clergy working in the parish, the wealth of the parish, and the presbytery as well as the manor addressed to the parish priest of Mir by the then Bishop of Vilnius (from 1762) Ignacy Jakub Massalski (1727-1794). This questionnaire comes from 1775. It is signed by notary apostolic Rev. Stanislaw Sobolewski and the parish priest in Mir Rev. Benedykt Ciszewski.
