Abstract

The paper presents the various forms of educational and cultural work of a group of nuns from Poland in the great Polish community in Calgary, Alberta. The nuns worked with children and young people. They taught them Polish folklore, songs, music, as well as the Polish language. They also staged Polish theatrical plays and edited Polish language publications. Polish youth groups from Calgary took part in inter-ethnical contests and appeared on the radio and television. The nuns work has greatly contributed to the Polish emigrants keeping their own cultural values.
