Abstract

Although the history of Polish emigration to Argentina began more than 100 years ago, the first Polish papers appeared there only in 1913. Earlier it was not possible because the Polish emigrants were scattered throughout the country.

The author discusses the origins, aims, social role, ideological orientation and the evolution of more than 40 different Polish papers published in Argentina in the last 70 years. As a result of the assimilation process in the successive generations of emigrants, the number of Polish papers as well as their circulations have been decreasing quickly.
