Abstract

The author presents the history of the Polish National Alliance of Brooklyn — the leading Polish-American organization of New York. In 1960 the Alliance was composed of 25 thousand members. Recently, it has gained the status of an insurance company and evidently reduced all cultural activities. Its present finances ammount up to 8 mln dollars. Owing to that, the Alliance is able to give financial support to a number of Polish and Polish-American institutions both in the USA and Poland. This aid has been regularly given since the revival of free Poland in 1918. The article offers a lot of examples.
