Abstract

Reverend Dominik Kolasiński, an outstanding leader of the Detroit Polonia of the end of the last century, the builder of the biggest Polish churches in America, today is a forgotten figure. Unfortunately, the descriptions of his work written in his time have the features of apology or of libel, which makes the access to factual information about him difficult. This gap is filled by Eduard Skendzel’s article in which, on the basis of source materials and many years’ investigation he has refuted many former stereotypes and has worked out a sort of calendar of Rev. Kolasmski’s life, leaving the full evaluation of his work to the reader.
