In a society shaken by various kinds of individualism and selfishness, children must be enriched with a sense of love and quality of community, which is built in the family as communio personarum. The self-giving that inspires the love of husband and wife for each other is the model for the self-giving that must be practiced in the relationships between brothers and sisters and the different generations living together in the family. And the communion and sharing that are part of everyday life in the home at times of joy and at times of difficulty are the most concrete and effective pedagogy. The quality of community life in the family creates the base for human development and education.
2021-02-08T12:20:38+01:00 Copyright (c) https://ojs.tnkul.pl/index.php/rnr/article/view/15426 Faith in the Family 2021-02-08T12:43:45+01:00 Mirosław Brzeziński rt@tnkul.pl
In his Apostolic Letter Porta fidei announcing the Year of Faith in the Church the Holy Father Benedict XVI pointed out that the family is one of the basic places, in which a man can grow up in faith, share his faith and develop his relation to Jesus Christ. It is so, because the family is the safest environment, as the relation of love that allows one to share his experiences, even the most intimate ones – and faith is such an experience – is at its foundations.

In the family message of faith a special role is played by the parents, who, on the strength of the sacrament of marriage, are supposed to develop their faith, and asking for the sacrament of holy baptism for their children should be the first heralds and witnesses of faith for them. Authenticity of experiencing faith in performing everyday family duties is an important element of sharing faith; it is a testimony about a personal encounter with Jesus Christ offered to the family members.
2021-02-08T12:21:23+01:00 Copyright (c) https://ojs.tnkul.pl/index.php/rnr/article/view/15427 Family, Education and School 2021-02-08T12:43:45+01:00 Aimé F. Caekelbergh rt@tnkul.pl
Since the end of the Second World War, the evolution of the family has dramatically changed. The same goes for the true reality of school and its teaching approach. But can the need for training be limited and express itself outside of real life? A demand for change is prevalent amongst both youth and adults who are seeking real answers to their questions. Lifelong learning becomes reality: this is training for life! There are different potential answers available. Amongst these answers, there is the Rural Family Houses one (MFR – Maisons Familiales Rurales); the Rural Family Houses are grouped within AIMFR, the International Association of Rural Family Houses).
2021-02-08T12:21:49+01:00 Copyright (c) https://ojs.tnkul.pl/index.php/rnr/article/view/15428 Family as a Social Institution from the Perspective of Civil Society Development 2021-02-08T12:43:45+01:00 Wiesław Bokajło rt@tnkul.pl Jerzy Koperek rt@tnkul.pl
Catechism of the Roman Catholic Church, defines the family as marriage of woman and man who have children. This definition should be perceived in the context of the Church's social teachings, the teaching of John Paul II and Benedict XVI in particular. In the sociological approach, the whole society is based on the family that is understood as the most important basic social group, as an intimate relationship, based on mutual feeling, cooperation and mutual responsibility; reinforcement of the internal relations and interactions are the main focus of the family. According to the systemic approach, the family should be treated as a system, in which a change in its one part brings on a change in its other parts.

The presented study is considering the issues concerning the family as a social institution in the context of the following main points: 1. Family – sociological approach; 2. The idea of civil society; 3. Spheres of civil society.
2021-02-08T12:22:07+01:00 Copyright (c) https://ojs.tnkul.pl/index.php/rnr/article/view/15429 Fatherhood in the Early Twenty-First Century – A Crisis of Fatherhood and „New” Fatherhood 2021-02-08T12:43:46+01:00 Katarzyna Zielińska-Król rt@tnkul.pl
Parenthood used to be and in fact still is identified mostly with motherhood, not only in common thinking, but also in interdisciplinary studies. Until quite recently the main areas of reflection and discussion concerning parenthood were: the maternal instinct, maternity leave, maternal love and maternal bond. However, a change has been observed within the last decade. Now, the term fatherhood or the „new” fatherhood is becoming the subject of studies and analyses within the family studies (although it must be noted that the main focus is still on motherhood).

The subject of fatherhood has been presented from the point of view of the evolution of fatherhood, the reasons of the crisis of fatherhood, and the characteristic of the „new” fatherhood. This article discusses the „new” (engaged) fatherhood as a currently promoted vision of the father role model.
2021-02-08T12:22:25+01:00 Copyright (c) https://ojs.tnkul.pl/index.php/rnr/article/view/15430 Social Determinants of Attitudes Towards Maternity in the 20th and the Beginning of the 21th Centuries 2021-02-08T12:43:46+01:00 Urszula Dudziak rt@tnkul.pl
Maternity is a social role, as it supplies new members of the society and it involves a lot of people when it is being realized. Accepting the child is a great event for the whole family, but it is also significant for the society. The society also has a significant influence on forming the attitudes towards maternity. It happens not only through the educational process in the family, Church or school, but also through the information that is transmitted by the mass media, through legislature, politics and economy. Demographic problems imply serious economic consequences connected with maintaining the aging society. However, one of the factors that have a negative influence on the decision of giving birth to children is a lack of support from the family in realizing the procreative function. Poland that has one of the lowest Total Fertility Rates in European countries is numbered among these EU countries that allot the least money for children. For forming attitudes towards maternity the following phenomena are not unimportant: a critical attitude towards families with many children stereotypically considered as pathological, promoting contraception, making efforts to liberalize the abortion law, reducing man to a laboratory problem by fertilization in vitro. More social responsibility is necessary for forming proper attitudes towards maternity and preparing the conditions for its decent realization.
2021-02-08T12:22:48+01:00 Copyright (c) https://ojs.tnkul.pl/index.php/rnr/article/view/15431 Aiding Families with the Pathological Gambling Problem – Examples from Poland and the Canadian Program 2021-02-08T12:43:46+01:00 Bernadeta Lelonek-Kuleta rt@tnkul.pl
The article discusses the forms of aiding families with the pathological gambling problem that are available in Poland as well as the example of the Canadian program. Among others, the results are presented of studies conducted in 2011 and 2012 that aimed at making a diagnosis of the aid resources for the gambling problem in Poland. In the studies 801 institutions took part that conduct therapy of addictions. Among them 120 declared that they offer aid to families affected by pathological gambling. In the forms of aid individual therapy, counseling and education dominate. Less than half of the institutions have a therapeutic program worked out for pathological gamblers, and the remaining institutions conduct therapy according to programs prepared for people addicted to psychoactive substances. Addiction therapists say there is a great need of improving their qualifications in the sphere of supporting people with behavioral addiction – including pathological gambling.
2021-02-08T12:23:07+01:00 Copyright (c) https://ojs.tnkul.pl/index.php/rnr/article/view/15432 The Mothers's Image in the Perception of Homeless Women 2021-02-08T12:43:46+01:00 Beata Szluz rt@tnkul.pl
This article was written on the basis of a larger, the author's own study of 52 homeless women in the Podkarpackie voivodship, that was conducted in 2009. People were matched in terms of age, place of residence during the research, and occasional or permanent residence in a hostel. The biographical method, narrative interview technique, which is a particular form of free or in-depth interview, was used. Inspirations for Social Work Today 2021-02-08T12:43:46+01:00 Jarosław Jęczeń rt@tnkul.pl
In 2012 seventy years passed from Janusz Korczak's death. Despite the time that passed his words and acts still teach how to understand and love a child. The power of this presence of Korczak in today's world should be used by all people responsible for the mass media and communication technologies. It is them that shape our interpersonal relations, them that co-create our identity, educate, integrate our families and the society. Korczak understood very well the effect of the media on the life of an individual, of a family and of the society, and he devoted a lot of time to literary and journalist work. At the basis of this work and his involvement in the mass media there was “a wise love” for the child, that we keep discovering anew even after so many years.
2021-02-08T12:23:50+01:00 Copyright (c) https://ojs.tnkul.pl/index.php/rnr/article/view/15434 Marriage and Family Counseling Attempt of Specific Initiatives for the Family Based on a Training Program for Polish Community Centers 2021-02-08T12:43:46+01:00 Andrzej Pryba rt@tnkul.pl
Family and marriage counseling is extremely important. It is necessary. On the one hand, it is to help people who are preparing to enter into the sacrament of marriage, but on the other hand it is to help married couples experiencing various crises. The quality of future marriage and family life depends on this preparation for the sacrament of marriage. In addition, accompanying spouses in a variety of difficult times is extremely important for the quality of their life together. In the era of the depreciation of the sacrament of marriage, pro-divorce mentality, the issue seems to be very important and therefore counseling and competent people are needed.
2021-02-08T12:24:18+01:00 Copyright (c) https://ojs.tnkul.pl/index.php/rnr/article/view/15435 The Attitudes of Slovak Catholics towards Marriage and Family and its Implications 2021-02-08T12:43:47+01:00 Ladislav Csontos rt@tnkul.pl
In our cultural framework marriage means a monogamous, lifelong partnership of two persons of different sex, which is open for parenthood. Since mid twentieth century asignificant change of cultural mentality can be seen in Europe, which brings with itself also a changed understanding of marriage and family. In the first place it is manifested in expecting the fulfilment of one's personal life and the realization of individual personal happiness to which belongs mostly the emotional fulfilment. Other dimensions such as giving life, help in good times and in bad, mutual fidelity, have become rather marginal. We can see the change in a decreasing number of marriages and increasing number of non-marital communities, cohabitations, and in the effort to legalize and equalize homosexual partnerships with classic marriages. In additon to this there is a tendency to live an independent life (singles) which excludes permanency of common life. Moreover, there is a growing number of single mothers raising their children and a large number of divorced mothers with children. Besides, one can notice a decline in the willingness to have a child as well as in the decline of their number, which consequently results in a demographic crisis. This phenomenon conserns also the Slovak Catholics. The research in the field of reproductive behaviour and the research of religiosity carried out by the team of prof. Jozef Matulník show that the marriage value index is low even among the Slovak Catholics. In Slovakia this crises of marriage has become a challenge for the Catholic Church. Thus in this contribution we will try to outline some possible solutions of this problematic.
2021-02-08T12:24:40+01:00 Copyright (c) https://ojs.tnkul.pl/index.php/rnr/article/view/15436 Religiousness of People with Disabilities 2021-02-08T12:43:47+01:00 Witold Janocha rt@tnkul.pl Katarzyna Zielińska-Król rt@tnkul.pl
Disability in Poland has recently become a frequent subject of research and investigation. But the studies have mainly focused on psychological issues, as well as a social support of the disabled and their families. A disabled person's religiosity has been hardly ever investigated, and particularly there is hardly any evidence of research on how religion helps to experience disability. The impressive number of studies conducted in the United States, Canada or other countries clearly indicate that religion plays a key role in living a traumatic situation. For the disabled and their families both the individual and social dimension of the faith are of paramount importance; the individual dimension includes prayer and faith in God, the social dimension comprises community meetings, discussions, and intercessory prayers. These practices, in addition to the salvific and spiritual dimension, have a positive effect on improving mental condition of a person, they support treatment and encourage the pursuit of full ability.
2021-02-08T12:25:04+01:00 Copyright (c) https://ojs.tnkul.pl/index.php/rnr/article/view/15437 Basic Methodological Problems of Family Sciences 2021-02-08T12:43:47+01:00 Teresa Mazan rt@tnkul.pl
Family sciences constitute a question which is not only exceptionally complex as far as the number of disciplines that ought to be taken into consideration in their analysis is concerned, but also one that is unusually complicated – on account of relations and interdependence between the particular constituent disciplines. The network of interrelations between the particular disciplines composing this branch of knowledge, theoretical and paradigmatic references, specific sensibility of the examined sphere of phenomena, the extreme susceptibility to manipulation and suprainterpretations are just some of a number of problems opening new prospects as successive questions are considered. The present article introduces some basic problems of family sciences as an interdisciplinary discipline in the context of the general methodology of sciences and methodology of social sciences. It deals with questions of the semantic concept of „family sciences”, the internal structure of this branch of science, methodological peculiarities occurring within the examined branch and fundamental philosophical and practical questions that have to be tackled by each scholar.
2021-02-08T12:26:08+01:00 Copyright (c) https://ojs.tnkul.pl/index.php/rnr/article/view/15438 The Emotional Atmosphere of the Family in the Perception of the Ukrainian Youth Living without One or Both Emigrant Parents 2021-02-08T12:43:47+01:00 Iryna Durkalevych rt@tnkul.pl
The article presents the results of empirical research on the emotional problems of Ukrainian adolescents being brought up in the families affected by the syndrome of separation.
2021-02-08T12:26:29+01:00 Copyright (c) https://ojs.tnkul.pl/index.php/rnr/article/view/15439 Individual Preparation of Couples to Maternity and Paternity 2021-02-08T12:43:47+01:00 Magdalena Lewicka rt@tnkul.pl Magdalena Sulima rt@tnkul.pl Katarzyna Kanadys rt@tnkul.pl Barbara Stawarz rt@tnkul.pl Henryk Wiktor rt@tnkul.pl
The ongoing social changes reduce the significance of maternity and paternity. Fortunately there exist couples for whom the joy of conception and the expectance period for the child's birth are not dominated by consumptive, egoistic and hedonistic tendencies. The aim of the study is the presentation of an individual model of preparation of couples to maternity and paternity. A number of delivery schools conduct courses on preparation to maternity and paternity. However, a certain number of prospective parents want the education before, around and past the delivery to be organized as individual meetings. Family midwives decide on the individual course of classes basing on the curriculum of the delivery school, according to the assumptions of the national psychoprophylaxis. The role of a family nurse in individual preparation of couples to maternity and paternity is not only teaching but also giving inspiration to the prospective parents to individual verification of the gained knowledge and seeking for individual, optimal solutions. The effects of individual work of the family midwife are visible during home delivery.
2021-02-08T12:27:02+01:00 Copyright (c) https://ojs.tnkul.pl/index.php/rnr/article/view/15440 Monica Migliorino Miller, Abandoned: The Untold Story of the Abortion Wars, Charlotte, NC: Saint Benedict Press 2012 2021-02-08T12:43:47+01:00 David Yves Braun rt@tnkul.pl 2021-02-08T12:28:33+01:00 Copyright (c) https://ojs.tnkul.pl/index.php/rnr/article/view/15441 Leon Szot, Znaczenie wsparcia społecznego w pozytywnej readaptacji osób wchodzących w konflikt z prawem.
