Abstract

The results of clinical research show that sclerosis multiplex is a neurological disease of the central nervous system. As a disease directly influencing brain cells it may cause serious psychological and physiological malfunctions. Approaching the problem of the influence of sclerosis multiplex on the validity of sacramental marriage appeared to be a particularly difficult task as it became necessary to resolve a range of matters, which had not been discussed previously by canon law. First of all there arose the need to get to know complicated terminology. These were often technical terms, which were obvious for the medicine but still unknown for canonists. Summing up, the aim of this study is to present in what way the sclerosis multiplex disease influences validity of sacramental marriage. The consequences of sclerosis multiplex and their influence are demonstrated in the plane of validity of sacramental marriage. Yet, there are plenty of neurological diseases having the same consequences and the analysis of them together with sclerosis multiplex may be the subject for further research. Such research would surely lead to more a complete presentation of the influence of neurological diseases on validity of sacramental marriage.
