Abstract

The article discusses the origin of the institution of military testament and its evolution in the Polish lands, from the regulations of the Partitioners, through the interwar period and into the post-war era before the entry of the current civil code and an order of 1965 regulating military testaments.

Since the 19th century, the military testament has had a great many forms which have allowed it to be applied in the unique circumstances of the battlefield.
