Abstract

The freedom of teaching is guaranteed in international documents, and in democratic states it is a constitutional value. This freedom is guaranteed comprises the following: the right to choose school, the parents' right to educate their children according to their own beliefs. The paper sought to explain the problems of private education in France. This education may develop freely and has no obstacles in receiving financial aid from public funds. It is, however, the state's, departments' and administrative units' decision when and whom to give money. In practice, this means that subsidies are often insufficient. Consequently, one may rightly ask to what extent the right to the freedom of education is carried out. In particular, is the parents' right to educate their children according to their beliefs respected?
