Call for Papers

The Annals of Cultural Studies (1/2021)

We invite submissions for publication in the special issue of “A Timeless Controversy Over Contemporary Art.

Your submission should discuss issues related to the concept of ‘art’ that dominate the contemporary Western culture.

“A Timeless Controversy Over Contemporary Art” will cover a wide range of aesthetic and problems related to art in general:

  • art and its meaning (which in intercultural and interdisciplinary aspects are far from obvious),
  • contemporary discussions on the materiality of art (conceptual, virtual, performative or visual arts, etc.),
  • contexts of origin of the work or interpretations of artworks - as a field for the reading of the individual contemporary works.

We welcome all submissions (but not limited to) these topics. We particularly encourage interdisciplinary submissions.

Submission Guidelines:
Deadline: November 30, 2020

Manuscripts should be prepared according to the manuscript submission information on the Journal website available at:

Submissions must be 5000 - 6000 words in length.

All submissions will be reviewed by the editorial staff prior to two external double-blind reviews.

Please submit a separate cover sheet that includes your name, contact information, institutional affiliation, and keywords and relevant area(s) of research.
