Adoption of the doctrine of the Second Vatican Council about instruments of social communication in polish synodal legislation until 1983

Abstract

The article takes the problem up concerning the adoption of the doctrine of the Second Vatican Council about instruments of social communication in polish synodal legislation until 1983.

In the first part of the article there is presented decree Inter mirifica and six another documents of the Second Vatican Council which treat of using the utilities. In the second part, the Author showed the adoption of the Council on the instruments of social communication in the First Synod of Province of Kraków, Synod of Diocese of Włocławek, Synod of Archdiocese of Poznań , the Second Synod of Diocese of Gdańsk, the Third Synod of Archdiecese of Warszawa, the First Synod of Diocese of Katowice, Pastoral Synod of Archdiocese of Kraków and the Second Synod of Archdiocese of Gniezno. Research showed that polish synodal legislation until 1983 paid attention to: the right of the Church to possess and use of the instruments of social communication, to form a proper media reception, the need for the involvement of the pastors of the Church and the lay Christian faithful in establishing and supporting Catholic media, receivers' protection against negative impact of the instruments of social communication, the need for using media in deepening missionary issue, necessity of supporting and developing of Catholic press, participate in forming and disseminating of proper public opinion, natural right to information and freedom in disseminating of it, rules of taking photographs and filming during performing liturgical actions, dominance of moral principles in media opinion and responsibility of the pastors of the Church for the development of the instruments of social communication.
