The Right to the Catholic Education in the Light of Vth General Latin American Conference Document Aparecida
Abstract
Catholic education lives in a world that challenges and jeopardizes its mission. The right to this catholic education is possessed by Christian families, to seek ways of dialogue with other cultures with different kinds of institutions and societies; these are urgent goals, to make them understand the importance and the right to an education in Christian values that allow human and social development with the purpose of building a more harmonious, sociable and humanizing society.
In Latin America, the Church, in the Latin American Episcopal Conference (CELAM), in its last document of Aparecida, proposes an educational – training process in faith which begins in Christ to turn a person into a true disciple and missionary of Jesus. A transforming, renewing and inclusive education are part of the challenges awaiting us today and tomorrow in this Church’s mission.
